Nordstrom Buying Simulation

The Ask

For this project along with my partner, we were asked to do research on a publicly traded retail store and demonstrate the buying process. We were new buyers for Perry’s Department store and tasked with understanding our competition at the time.

The Process

For this project, we had to complete a six-month buying planning assessment and an assortment plan along with justifying both of them. We had to go through Nordstrom’s website in order to get numbers to plug into our buying plan this would help us plan out numbers. As well as digging into what areas could help them boost sales such as what vendors they would pick out. We stumbled across some really great opportunities that we believed could boost numbers for Nordstrom and calculated how much of a profit it would be.

The Outcome

This project taught me a better understanding of the buying process. As well as how people in this role have to be very particular about what they order and when they order.
